Rowden has begun work with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) through the Scottish Government’s CivTech programme to design and deliver a new situational awareness solution that enhances how emergency responders assess, coordinate, and respond to incidents across Scotland.
The initiative seeks to address a long-standing operational challenge: ensuring firefighters and incident commanders have accurate, real-time information before, during, and after an incident. The new platform will improve decision-making, optimise resource deployment, and strengthen responder safety.
Working closely with CivTech, Rowden is leading the design and development of a scalable, secure, and user-centred solution that integrates data and visualisation tools to give responders and control room teams a clearer, shared picture of evolving incidents. The system will be designed to strengthen communication, situational awareness, and operational coordination across Scotland’s fire and rescue network.
This collaboration forms part of CivTech’s mission to drive innovation in the public sector, bringing together government and industry to co-develop technology that improves lives and delivers measurable benefits for citizens and emergency responders alike.

Fire officers are asked to process a vast amount of information in a risk-critical environment. Through technology, and through partnership with Rowden, we hope to deliver both a format, and a technology - hardware and software - that allows our crews to make operational decisions safely and effectively.
